Genuine OEM Toyota V160 / V161 Gearbox Oil
Genuine Toyota OEM gear oil formulated specifically for the Getrag V160 and V161 6-speed manual transmissions found in the MKIV Toyota Supra (JZA80). This is the factory-recommended fluid and the only oil Toyota specifies for these gearboxes.
Benefits of using OEM Getrag Oil: The Getrag V160 is a high-performance synchromesh transmission with tight tolerances and specific friction requirements. Unlike most manual gearboxes that take a conventional 75W-90 GL-4/GL-5 gear oil, the V160/V161 calls for a much thinner ATF-spec lubricant. Substituting with thicker generic gear oils causes notchy shifts (particularly into 2nd and 3rd when cold), premature synchro wear, and in worst cases, accelerated bearing failure.
